About Us

Your Hosts...

Edgewood Farm has been owned by one local family for over 200 years. The tradition continues today under the stewardship of Loring & Claudette Kydd.

The Kydd's, retired from over 30 years in public education, renovated the Farm throughout the 90s with the encouragement of friends, family, and the Island community. The vast majority of the renovation was done by Loring and Claudette themselves, using local materials and plenty of Yankee ingenuity.

The result was a lifestyle similar to what you see each week on "This Old House" - yes, one of their favorite TV shows!

Loring, a self-taught carpenter, led the renovation of the Farm house, barn, and numerous outbuildings. Having spent his childhood working on the farm, Loring is committed to maintaining its rugged authenticity, while updating where necessary for modern conveniences. A veteran antique auction goer, Loring has amassed a collection of farm antiques, which adorn the grounds and provide a one-of-a-kind environment.

Claudette, an avid gardener, has cultivated numerous flower gardens in various locations around the Farm. She also captains a bountiful vegetable garden - resulting in superb preserves and canning each Fall.
